Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) noise?

I have a noise coming from in front of the drives side dash. It happens after I have been driving for about 20 miles or so. It sound like maybe a bad shock or wheel bearing ? Maybe some vibration is coming up the steering column ? I have another noise that sound similar to a speedometer cable that needs lubrication. Does anybody have any ideas? I would like to fix it myself instead of taking it to the dealer. Thank guys.
