I just had 4 Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT 265-70-17, Load Range E, mounted on my 03 Ram. Yesterday after mounting I had to drive 75 interstate miles home. Then today I drove 230 miles on conventional highways. So far, they are an incredible tire. I replaced 4 original Michelin summer tires that were down to 5/32" of tread.

The First thing I noticed was how much the ride comfort was improved, difference in night and day. We only had about 2 inches of snow last night, so I can not comment on snow use. Since mounting the Nokian's, my overhead MPG is showing an increase of 2. 4 mpg. I know its not real accurate, but if I am getting even half of what the display shows, I am happy. The fuel in the tank is the same load as pre Nokian's.

The other remarkable thing is stability. The entire truck feels more stable on the road. On the way home today, on a 2 lane secondary high, some Nummie crosses the line coming toward me, very close. I had to do a quick swerve to avoid him.

My mind flashed what is going to happen with these tires. The truck swerved like a rat running in a pipe. The tires handled the swerve beautiful. I am sold on the Nokians. Unless some unknown event happens, in the spring I will shoe my Ram with Nokian summer tires. Not cheap, $195 each mounted and balanced.

Just a happy user

Nokian Tyres

That's an interesting post. My local independent BMW shop has recommended Nokians for my wife's car. Says they are some of the best tyres made. From Finland. I was getting ready to order a set when your post came up. It's reassuring to hear that you like them so much. I was wondering how their truck tyres would perform. Bruce

I mainly took the Nokian plunge do to great snow reports from a friend that lives in northern Vermont. We get the same snow depth here in the Adirondack Mts of NY. I need a great snow tire. I am still old school, I dont really understand how current technology snow tires perform better in snow that the Heavy Deep Lug tires of years past, but they sure do perform better.

my pop has some hakka 10 LT's under his chevy. . they are an older model [the tires are 8 years old now] and they are pretty good winter tires. they were their all season all terrain tires. . i don't see that model on the website anymore. .

Nokian Hakkapeliitta

These tires do seem to deliver. They are not as quiet or smooth as my summer tires and deliver lightly less MPG, but so far I cannot complain about the handling in the light snow or ice we have had thus far this season. The Dodge is so far is a real delight to drive in bad weather.

Hakki's

I have worked in snow removal since the early '90s and we have always use the hakkis ( Hockey's is how its pronounced). Just incredidle snow climbing ability, just find a large snow pile and drive up it side of it, the tires will get you close to the top of it, even plowing snow at the same time, And the studded versions are even better. Please change them out in the spring cause they wont last long in the summer heat as they are a soft compound tire and you will be ticked that you will have to buy another set for winter.

My boss has put them on his wifes minivan since, nothing but the best for his kids.

Just a good word for them from someone who has plowed snow for years with them.
