Can somebody help me find a 12v source on my 05 that comes on with the lights, but is not dimmed. I’m trying to hook up my Autometer Phantom II gauges using the Autometer LED Lighting Dimmer 9114. The way I understand it is, the dimmer needs a 12v source that comes on with the lights so that I can adjust the brightest.

Thanks,

Marty

Why not use the factory switch to dim the gauge lights? That is all I did. Although if you have LEDs, that probably wouldn't work very well, since they don't need much juice anyhow.

Thanks guys. I found a 12v source behind the center section of the dash. It lights up the green lights for the ash tray and cup holder area. Here's a picture of it.

Gauge powering;2004.5

I was just going to get on to ask the same question about a 12v dimming source for the light on my gauge. I found it w/o asking. :)

How about a 12v source on the ignition on/off to power the gauge itself. Where is the best source for that???

Thanks for the help.

I remember coming across the wire to the clearance lights in one of the A-pillars. Don't remember which side though. I would assume drivers side. Doesn't help you much if you're using the cubby hole mount or if you don't have clmps.

I'm using the lighter for 12v power. You can see it in the upper left of the picture.

Jack, the 12v power I'm using is non-dimming and comes on with the dash lights. I'm using this because my gauges are LED. I'm tapping that wire into the Autometer dimmer box.

Getting to the constant 12v source in my 06 from the cig lighter was a tad harder than in my 05. So I used the wire on the floorboard used to power the adjustable electric pedals, which my truck does not have, but its still wired for it for a constant 12v to power the amp box for the Pyro. I still tapped into the dimmer for the lights though.
