Is this a direct bolt on? I prefer the look of the non-sport bumper. Is it necessary to change the grill also, and if so, is it a direct bolt on? Thanks.

The bumper on an 01 sport has a dip down in the top center for the longer grille. The sport grille drops down lower than a non sport. The non-sport bumper is pretty much on the same plane all the way across the top. The headlights are also different. You have quadlights instead of duals. I'm sure if you advertised the fact in here that you wanted to swap your sport frontend parts for someone's convential parts, someone would jump at the chance.

John Treibel ("John" on TDR) put '99+ sport grille on his '98 Sport (which was the same as the non-sport) and in order to fit it he carefully made a cutout in the top plastic cover to clear the grille. The opening conformed perfectly with the grille contour so there was very little gap and it looks good. Definitely took some work and careful planning. Personally I like the sport grille, but not the bumper.

Big,

If you do both the bumper and the grill, then yes, they are a direct bolt on. Now, that said, the bumper BRACKETS are different for some years. The difference is the location of the bolt holes in the frame. I have a '95 and a fellow gave me a bumper from a '97(I think). I went to put it on with the brackets he gave me and they wouldn't bolt up to the frame. I used my old brackets and everything worked fine.
