No converter lockup

Fuel pressure question

I've got an 06 with a built transmission and converter. I'm going to be running an exhaust brake, but it's not a standard kit.

do I just need to wire up the exhaust brake switch to a lockup switch for the converter? does the line pressure need to be increased as well? I know the 06's are set up to run a brake from the factory, but I'm not using a kit designed for an '06

any help greatly appreciated

What is the kit designed for?

I would think you could still run the switch thru the ECM pretty easily and the ECM would do all the transmission stuff.

You don't say what "is not a standard kit"

If you have your stock elbow on the turbo, and the stock programing in the transmission ECM than an off the shelf exhaust brake will work just fine...

If the guys at hotroddiesel didn't use the stock programing to run your transmission than only they can tell you what you need to do to run an exhaust brake...

Thats a good questions. The programming built into the ECU has to know when the EB is activated to hold lockup and ramp the TV pressure. I would think there is an EB sense wire somewhere that would kick the ECU into brake mode and you would probably have to tap that to make it work like stock.

You can wire a switch to lockup the TC but the TV pressure doesn't get ramped and that might be an issue.

the 06 are ready to go for eb (auto)

the computer sends a ground singnal out of computer to my switch witch enables my electric valve to actuate the air ram. i just pulled the rubber plugs and inserted the ground to complete the circuit. NO programming nessary. no reflash. the ecu seems to know when the switch is on and shifts as in tow/haul. I have a pac brake --air on board.

Thats the whole point of his question. If you use the OEM setup its fine BUT the ECU is activating the brake so you have integration.

When you activate the brake by other means is where the issue is.

Tell us how your EB switch is wired and what wires are tapped for it and he can mimic that functionality.

See, that's where we don't have enough information... I assumed that Forrest understood the operation of the brake and the connections to the ECM... . what I thought he was asking was if something needed to be done to his aftermarket transmission to hold the torque converter pressure...

My comment was that if the vendor of the automatic transmission didn't alter the transmission computer, all would function as its designed providing he made his exhaust brake connections to the ECM... . ie: unaltered software in the transmission computer and the interface to the engine ECM... .

And that's why I asked for more information... .
