Injector test good but still white smoke

I have a 2006 Dodge with the 5.9L 4X4 with 90,246 on the odometer with what I have been told is the 48RE Auto transmission. I'm kind of new to this year of truck.

What I am having issues with, is that at low speeds, lets say 15 MPH, it seems like the truck cant decide whether it wants to be in drive, or neutral. Also, when I take off from a stop on a slight incline, the truck feels sluggish, like its not getting 100% of the power to the wheels. I am worried that it might be a Torque Converter. However, it doesn't jolt or feel like its slipping hard out of gear. I pulled the dipstick the other day, and the fluid didn't smell burnt. Is there something else that could be causing this issue.

Also, i am not certain, but I think that the torque converter has already been replaced before I bought the truck. I say that only because, I pulled the access to the torque converter and noticed that the converter was not the normal grey that I assume it would be from the factory. It is in fact purple. is my assumptions correct, or did they come from the factory that way. Thank you

Purple is not stock, likely an ATS one, I would start with a band adjustment and go from there. The 48 RE is prone to shuttle shifting where at certain speeds it sometimes fluctuates between 2 gears but should not act likes its in neutral in any gear.

Is there any certain way to adjust the bands? I have never broken into a transmission and kind of worried about messing something up.

Is "shuttle shift" related to band adj?
No, I don't believe so. There was a TSB for the valve body that was supposed to address it, but it didn't accomplish much for mine, at the time. I ended up installing a DTT shift controller(?), and it didn't make it go away, but it changed the range of where it happened to a point that was easier to avoid in my daily routine.

No a band adjustment wont fix the shuttle shift, even my 6k Gucci built trans with Gorend VB still does it occasionally but we also are not positive if thats the OPs issue.

Reprogram the TTVA motor operation and the shift points is the one way to eliminate the shuttle shift, the other is a constant pressure VB. The controls programs for a 48RE are REALLY dumb and they do not compensate for little changes very well at all.

It's the governor pressure regulator that causes the "shuttle". This is a Mopar part and not a Goerend part so don't blame them. Some have had luck putting in the GM units. Not sure if this is the OP's issue though. Just sticking up for Goerend...

Does simply replacing this part solve the problem?

Thanks for clarifying, my post was vague. I’m extremely happy with goerend TC and valve body.

Just was adding a +1 for having the same issue with those aftermarket parts installed.

The GM solenoid will help if the solenoid is bad, but, the solenoid is not usually the problem. The transducer is hands down the biggest source of issues because it is really cheap and after about so long it starts drifting in readings. Once it starts drifting the shuttle shift gets worse. About 30k is all I see before the readings become unreliable, the GM solenoid has been in for over 200k with no issues. Replacing the transducer fixes the problem for a while.

Likewise, super happy with my VB and love that it will flow through the cooler in Park, my truck only shuttle shifts under very light throttle and every 48RE I have driven or been in has similar quirks no matter what parts are in it.

My DTT 47 will shuttle at times under light throttle between 1st and second. A little more go pedal solves the problem, it is intermittent tho so it the conditions need to be right for it to happen.

I'm happy, absolutely no shuttle, never experienced it with my truck.

But - it has another quirk.
In Low Range, and only there, from time to time it refuses to downshift at all. For example you approach an obstacle in 3rd gear low, brake down, it should shift to 2nd or even first but it won't. It begs down the engine to almost zero rpm and only brutally stomping the throttle to the ground forces it to downshift.
What then ends in a jump of the vehicle forward. I hate that and can't figure out what's wrong with it.
