Used Challenger (Damon Corp) 5'er??

Trailer Security while in storage.

I am leaving for Alaska this morning with two other drivers. I will try to let you all know how it goes. I am pulling a 26 Foot travel trailer. Just put new BFG Commercial tires on the Beast. Odometer is showing 273,626 Miles and still running good.

It is just under 4,000 Miles from Bristol, IN to Anchorage, we are going to Pacific RV (used to be A&M) I have hauled there before.

Y'All have fun here in the lower 48!!

Best place to find me on Ham Bands is 14. 332 Mhz YLISSB Net.

Alaska Update

The truck is running great!!! I made it to Fort St. John, BC and the weather acutually was above freezing for the first time. The roads have been great! I should reach Anchorage by Wednesday if there are no major snow storms.

I WANNA GO.

I'll be the co-pilot, pull KP duty, fuel the truck, clean the windshield, or even better drive my truck pulling a trailer.

Well, if I can't go next time, at least give us the details of the trip when you get time.

Good luck, be careful.

I live in the Anchorage area. If there is anything we can do for you just give us a call @ 745-6525 (Palmer) or work 552-4540 (Anchorage). Happy Traveling.

I AM HOME

Odometer reading is 283094 you do the math, lots of miles, 2 quarts of oil, lots of fuel, light switch is burning out, truck is still running great.

I picked up a trailer at La Grande, OR and delivered it to Colorodo Springs yesterday 1/30/02 then drove home from there.

The worst roads of the whole trip were in Kansas, heavy snow and freezing rain and few plows.

I will compile some data on fuel use etc. soon and post it here.

By the way, I do not have much room for riders with my refrigerator in the passenger seat etc. but if ya want to run with me come on!!!

FUEL REPORT

Total gallons of fuel used from Indiana to last fillup at Cheyenne, WY

736 Gallons

Total cost..... $ 1247. 06 Some of this is Canadian money and will be converted to good ole USA money, cheaper. Best way to buy fuel is with a Visa card, everyone takes it and you get the best exchange rate when they bill you.

I have not filled up yet here in Joplin, MO it will probably take about 70 gallons to fill the Beast up.

KBOOU,

I am thinking of making atrip to Alaska in the summer of 2003. Are the roads very hard on the truck? What I mean is, I heard that there is alot of gravel and the truck will get abrazed badly. I want to do this but I don't want to ruin my paint job.

GRAVEL

WASSAT???

Yea, there is some, but only where they are working on the road, it has all been paved or chip and sealed. Just past Fort Nelson there are a couple of sections and around Destruction Bay expect some. I of course just drove the road but it was mostly covered with frozen stuff so I am not certain where all the gravel was. This is one of the reasons we haul RV's in the winter up there. Go up now and you will have very little problem with gravel from the road, you may have some from the sand put down for traction however. I have driven to Alaska several times and have yet to have a chip out of my windshield, lights, or as far as I can tell my paint. I can't say that for the lower 48!!

My advise, go, have fun, but watch out for the rocks, South of the Bourder.

Hello KAB0O,

So this is where you've been and you did use your truck for the haul. Good. Glad your home safe.

Cobra, When I came back into Alaska last April the road between Kluane Lake west to the Don Jack Bridge was TERRIBLE. It was a long stretch of road all torn up-no pavement. There were rocks the size of your hand and at times we were down to 3-5 MPH. Luckily we didn't have any uncomming trucks come at us from the other direction otherwise something would have gotten wrecked. It may be paved now. but you can check road condions here Canadian Roads.
