I've got a knocking sound that is coming from the front door hinge area on the passenger side. The noise sounds like two metal parts tapping each other. The noise occurs when going over rough pavment (more noticable at slow speeds).
I can get the noise to stop by inserting a 6x6x1 inch piece of foam (scrap that I had laying around the garage) between the door and A pillar stuck slightly above the height of the mirror, and closing the door with the foam stuck in between.
I can also get the noise to stop if the door is in the open postion (during this test, I am not driving of course, but rocking the truck by pushing up and down on the front bumper).
I've checked all the hinge bolts (that I could get to) for tightness, and they were tight.
I also tie wrapped the wiring coming from the door into the cab so the wiring harness wouldn't rattle (didn't help either).
I also tried adjusting the door striker inward so the door was closed tighter, but that didn't work, it just made my door harder to close.
Any ideas?
