Can YOU keep a secret? Canada can!

There are other threads here that talk about it "DSE" or "$. 46" threads. ... I built a station in a thread marked "my DSE station built"

I have done some batches and it seems to do well. I run 25% in the cold here and no problems so far.

This is actually biodiesel in a slightly different form, right?

No. Biodiesel is vegetable oil chemically modified to remove the glycerin, using a process called transesterification. Most commonly they use alcohol and lye to do this.

DSE is a recipe, calling for you to mix straight or waste vetetable oil with various things to reduce its thickness and allow it to flow in colder temperatures. They also outline a process using various filters, to remove debris and water prior to use.

A good thread showing someone testing it is found right here in 'alternative fuels'... dse in truck 04-05 CTD

The thing to be watching for when using this type of fuel might include concerns over the effects of higher viscosity (too thick?) on the lift and fuel (vp44, cp3) pumps, and possibly injector spray pattern changes (same cause) that could allow the oil to build up unburned and gum the rings, injectors, etc.

The fellow in the link above (CJ?) will probably have his injectors pulled before too long, and we can see how his injectors are doing.

FYI - mark
