My 5 speed quickly deteriorated to a point when I could not drive it. I came home today, removed the transmission and this is what I found...



5th gear nut still tight, but with the gear below the 5th gear nut problem, I could move the entire cluster gear assembly side to side and up and down about half an inch. In the picture this gear has a bearing that looks like it bolts onto to rear of the case and all the bearing have fallen out of the cage and are sitting in the bottom of the case. I guess this is a good reason it does not work and makes noise...



Guess I will buy that shaft that is supposed to fix the fith gear nut problem, buy a bearing, and put it back together and see if it works.
