Well my 06 just turn 30k and it decided it was home sick and wanted to go vist the dealer I got it from. I had had the radio with a small sub amp runing for about 10 hours yesterday while working and everything was fine untill I headed home and about 2 min down the road the check guages light came on and at first i didn't knotice anything but then i saw the volt meter start to drop. I mangaged to get home with about 8 volts reading. I tried to restart and no go. This morning I figured why not and it actualy started but in about 2min it stoped charging and the check guages and engine light came on so i went right to the dealer to drop it off. The service write said" we will call you in a few hours to let you know what it going on" I had to stop myself from laughing in his face. asoff 5pm they still weren't sure what was wroung( from dealings with this dealer before that means its still sitting outside and we haven't looked at it yet) so any ideas on what it is? Is the alt controled by the ECM? or did my batterys take a dump( i knowtice moisture around the vent caps that hadn't been there before.

Charge your batteries and see if it still happens. I read some where, can't remember where, if the alternator stays at full out put for an extended period of time, the computer senses it as a short and will shut it down and throw a code. The moisture on top of the batteries tells me you have discharged them pretty good, and you are boiling them out when attempting to charge them.

I just got it back and they reflashed the compuer with updates to corect the problem. Only time will tell if that is the whole problem, there were points on the way home it was reading almost 16 volt on the guage.
