today my 92 quit charging and i searched threw some old threads and checked and cleaned a bunch of connections and it started charging good so i took it for a test drive and i the volt gauge started flickering and then it quit charging again so i cleaned some connections again but now i cant get to work again i also cleaned the battery ground connection and when i hooked it back up it sparked could this have anything to do with it? also the connections that i cleande was a flat plug on the right side of the engine that i traced some wires off the alternator to and the 3 prong plug that goes to the crankshaft position sensor and i cleaned the grond wire from the alternator to the block

Have you had a diagnostic check on the charging system?

i havent done anything but clean connections i started it today and it worked for about 15 miles and then it the voltmeter droped and the check engine light came on again so i thought i would try and cool the pcm with water and see if that helped but it didnt so i was headed back home had to take go feed some calves on the river and on the way back it started to charge again so i thought i would drive around some more and it quit again . does any body know what if any resistance value should be on the crank shaft position sensor ?

i just got through checking all the wires from the relay to the alternator and to the ecm they all check out ok swaped relays didnt help anything . checked voltage on the wires at the plug for the crank shaft position sensor 9 volts at tan/yellow with key, on grey and black checks good continuity back to pin 24 at ecm plug i assume the black/light blue wire is a ground or something because it has continuity to ground it also has continuity to pins 4,5,9,11,12,15,16,29,30,32,33,34,47,49,51,53,54,56 i read on here that it should omly have continuity to pin 4 so i ran a new wire this still didnt help anything anybody have any other ideas?
