Have a Blumenthal transmission and triple lok convertor for about a year. Now it is not down shifting to 1st unless I go into neutral and back to 1st. Blumenthal wants me to buy the complete TPS spring and housing for $260, not the TPS as it is new.

I have conflicting reports about the TPS being involved in down shifting to 1st. Could linkage ,TV cable cause this. Any other suggestions.

Sure appreciate.

The TPS is only involved in OD and TCC lockup in a 47RH transmission like in your '95. All other shifts are controlled by hydraulics controlled by a fly weight governor. The later trucks have a 47RE which is different. It has an electronic governor.

The shift linkage will not affect the down shift either. The TV cable might if it is adjusted too tight. You can test this by disconnecting the cable from the lever on the transmission to see if it will shift down in that condition.

You may need some other adjustment like the throttle pressure adjustment on the valve body.
