I have a 06 3500 SLT and can't get enough electric voltage to the brakes on my 5th wheel. Brakes come on, but not hard enough to stop. Mannual control does'nt have enough either. Truck did'nt come with rear hitch or bumper plug. I suspect some wiring not heavy enough. Blue wire only 18 or so. it trys to stop, but acts like not enough current to fully activate brakes. trailer has been checked out. I'm using the Prodigy controller, Need help quick. Thanks

first check the connector to the truck. plug it in and out several times to make sure you have a good connection. mine does this when its been sitting a long time. i drive it a ways and they come back. i think this caused buy a dirty magnet- rust- dust. when i bought my trailer a man told me to change the wires on the brakes to a heavier gauge. also the connections at the wheels need to be checked... robert

Another Check - check that your brakes are adjusted correctly on the trailer. The shoes should just start to drag the drum without power to the magnet. I run one axle up on ramps, then the other axle should be free of the ground and easy to check and adjust. I find that I need to do this annually on my trailer, and if the trailer is new, after a few hundred miles.
