I have had a 2 instances of the engine starting to shake when at a stop light. Only happened twice and only for a couple seconds then cleared up. Tonight while going to get something to eat the damn thing started and was clearly not running on all 6. Just as if it had a TOTAL missfire. Ran that way for about 3/4 of a mile and then cleared up. Never once set any MIL lights and after dinner it started and ran fine all the way home. Only have 550 miles on it and the only mod that I have done is 5 inch exhaust turbo back. I have asked a couple techs that I work with and the first time it happened I was just below 1/8th tank and they thought maybe it was sucking a bit of air but now it is full. Any suggestions?

I'd be heading to the dealer since you are still under warranty. I have had a couple of short term instances of rough idle, but never a total misfire like you describe. Running the truck a little harder than normal, and adding a fuel additive has always cleared up my problems.

Sucking air wouldn't cause that I don't think, sounds like an injector. Like MLimpert said throw an extra strong dose of fuel conditioner in and if that doesn't help, time to head to the dealer.

How is the weather there in Kennewick? I am originally from Prosser. It kind of sucks to think I have to add something to the tank already with only 550 miles on it!.

CBrahs, I'm origianlly fron Sunnyside. I saw the title and I thought you were talking about someones mental health :D

P. S. Vaughn wanna go snowboarding again this winter?

I can't see how carbon buildup (that requires a cleaner) could be a problem with only 550 miles on it. Sure hope the dealer don't say "the exhaust is causing the problem, and we can't warrantee it" :eek:

They better not. I hooked them up with my exhaust buddy and they installed a system on a BRAND new truck. They put it in the sale, so if they deny me then I will scream all holy hell with DCX. Will talk to the rep next time he comes to my shop if they give me crap.

Talked to one of the techs in my shop today and he thinks I have an injector going out. Anyone have any experience with the 3rd Gen's and bad injectors? I also had to drop by the dealership that I bought the truck from and the salesman tried to tell me that I had overheated the motor and it was going into limp mode! Never got above 190 degrees and it started doing it after it sat for 45 minutes and it was idleing at the time! :-{}

maybe a bad connection at the injector harness [i think theye is only 2 on the 06-07 engines, 3 on the earlier ones] or a poor connection with the stud/lug on the injector?

Probly just a little dirt from being brand new. Put some additive in the fuel and run her a while . Wouldnt hurt to put a load on it and pull her good . Get her broke in . Also fix the open elbows on your fuel tank top, that can let water and crud right into your tank. !!!!

give me more info on the open elbows part. I am new to the CTD family. . Sold my D-max to get this thing. Have to re-learn all the performance and maintenance tricks with the dodge

Identical situation happened to me but it happened as my wife and I were leaving the dealer with only 50 miles on it. They put a diesel cleaner/treatment in it and told me to drive it like a sportscar. Cleared up and hasn't been a problem since.

Any snow up there in Wallace? I am from McCall. Ski'd Lookout when I was in ski team in school. I put some lucas in it tonight and will driveit like I stole it over the next few days.

Your vehicle should have the fix already. If you look in 911 archives you will find the recall. It amounts to adding rubber tubing to the fuel tank roll over valves. PS dealer will not cover contaminated fuel. Your insurance however should cover it. Check out my thread on contaminated fuel it may give you some insite on that issue

I am not too worried about it. I am looking for another filter set up for the fuel. Can never be too cautious when it comes to dirt in the fuel. I am also looking at the transfer flow replacement midship tank (56 gallon replacement).

Hey CBrahs, I have a coworker who commutes all the way from Prosser every day. The weather here is fine, a little windy & rainy, you know how it is. It was in the 70s earlier this week though but cooled back down to the 50s.
