Ok guys. Need some help here. Since the pump was rebuilt, have been having a problem with the transmission not wanting to shift into OD. RPM is higher than before and I am wondering if there is a problem with linkage or the higher RPM. At easy throttle it shifts fine but when I get into it when passing or getting on the freeway, it wants to stay in 3rd and not shift. Any suggestions?

Sure hope there is not something going on in the transmission since I had it rebuilt last year to the tune of $2200. Can't keep dumping 2,000 dollar bills like this! #ad

Beginning to think I should have left it alone and not bombed it.

Paccool,

Since your trans worked fine before the pump, it is possible the tps sensor is mis adjusted or gone haywire.

Kick down cable can also affect the od.

I would start there before looking any further.

If you need help on how to test call me.

Paccool,
Check your TPS voltage at idle, it should be right near 1. 0 volt. If its not it will need to be adjusted. I'd have to look in the manual in order to tell you how to adjust it on the VE pumps as it has been over a year since I've had to work on one in the shop.
I seen to have a vague memory of a 5/8" wrench and a plastic hex under the TPS. If you don't have it fixed by Sunday night e-mail me and I'll check my service manual when I go back to the shop on Monday.

Thanks Bill and Paul for the info. Jim Watkins sent me "how to" on adjusting the sensor, sure hope it's something that simple. I was worried when it didn't shift right.

I'll try to take care of this weekend and will let everyone know how things turn out.

Thanks again to all that are always willing to help whether it was for this or some other problems. Thats what this site is all about! #ad
