170K on a Getrag in a '92. What bearings fail?

My stock 92 auto will not hold idle when up to operating temp at a stop in gear. If shifted to N it will idle just fine at a stop. It is worse if the AC is running and putting a draw on the motor at idle. I am not sure about the RPMs since it has no tach. Where should I start?

Turn the idle screw up, it's a bear to get to tho. Or turn the fuel screw up, it is easier to get to and will add power.

I turning up the idle would help but the problem also seems to be related to the outside temp. Not sure about that relationship but temp above 90 bring it on.

I have a similar problem with my '90. When its hot and I am running the fan or the AC while on the highway and get back to city streets my idle drops low and the oil light comes on. I just have to put it in neutral and give it some fuel to keep it idling. I was going to turn up the fuel screw to see if it would help but just haven't gotten around to it.

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?? Could also be a problem with the lift pump getting weak and starving the pump slightly. Injectors could also be the culprit if they have high miles and just dribbling the fuel in until RPM is raised enough to get them to atomize the fuel half way decent. I had a similar issue with my 93 2wd that had 171k on the original injectors and didn't know they were bad until I had them pop tested and the guy was quite surprised that the truck was even running.

If it's only a temperature related issue, you could get a deep 1/4" drive socket and some long extensions and try to get to the low idle screw or turn up the fuel a little bit as suggested before since it is FAR easier to get to than the idle screw.
