Reading some of the discussion re. owners who have had "the flash" done, ... I find TSB 18-033-07 (dated May 16, 2007) repeatedly mentioned.

The more recent flash addressing most complaints being discussed is described in a REVISION of that TSB, ... "TSB #18-033-07 REV. A" (dated June 12, 2007).

The literature states that the May 16th Bulletin has been SUPERCEDED by the newer one, and should be removed from Service Department files.

The "REV. A" is an important part of the TSB title.

FWIW ;)

Had that one done on mine and it didn't take. Tech said it never started regenerating then said to take the truck. It is now plugged up and won't run or start. What do you think I should do. The way I understand it, I will need a new cat/dpf and they are on backorder. I use my truck to work, out of work now. I'm waiting for confirmation from a different dealer before I go back to the first one and try to get an answer as to why they let me take the truck with no comment.

Define ". . that one"?

If you mean the revised version, here is a thought:

The instructions to the service tech are rather extensive and explicit. It would be very easy for someone who is careless, or not an excellent reader, to mess up the procedure.

Don't wish to unfairly disparage your tech,... but the unsatisfactory result would have me looking elsewhere.

A great salesman is your best friend, until the deal is complete.

For all the years after that, nothing can replace a good service dept! (... and not every service person is as good as the best in the shop. ASK!

These engines/systems are new to everyone. It takes serious effort to become educated about their function and about servicing them. Not many service depts have had-the-time/made-the-effort to have a full understanding as yet, and to be fair, the "problems" are only now becoming well known.

I will try to post later today or tomorrow on understanding regen.

I have found some answers which I hope will be of help to other owners. ;)

[If you meant that your flash was the UN-revised version,... get the newer one ASAP. ]

It was the revised version. 18-033-07-rev A. The tech said that the truck was not regenerating but to take it and drive it for 45 minutes anyway. Obviously did not work. The dealer I went to today said to drive the truck for 45 minutes and the overhead, which said cat full, service required, and the check engine light would go away. I told them it wouldn't, but did it anyway. It didn't, took it stright back to them. I told them I wanted it fixed before it screws up the dpf. There is a way to manually do a regen isn't there?

By the way, the other dealer, when they did the 18-033-07-rev A, wiped out all the old memory, the truck had completed 72 regens in a little over 50k miles, I at least got that out of them, but the dealer today said that they also made it where the computer wouldn't read my key at times. That is why it died and wouldn't start. They reprogramed the key and it starts fine now. This thing is going to have to be resolved pretty quickly or I am going to have to start looking for another truck. No truck, no work.

Well my truck is all about my work too. I cant afford to be in the shop all the time or at 3 bucks a gallon go drive for 45 min to complete a regen. I take delivery next week of my new truck this is getting ridicules. Now I am thinking a extended warranty is a must as I will wear my factory out in a year.
