Well, I wanted to finally chime in here and tell ya'll how happy I am finally with my truck.
For all of you that dont know, check out the 911 section about my "broken tap" ordeal. the past month has been somthing else it seems. lots of ups and down and finally seemed hit bottom that night. Well, after many weeks of it sitting, and finally getting the tap out, the truck is finally back on the road! I can tell ya one thing, dont EVER break a tap off in the block... it flat out sucks! But dont be afraid to use my info on how to get it out, I'll bill ya later for the intellectual property rights! :-laf
So, I need to shout out a big thanks to the boys at Triple D Preformance for there help, and dealing with me calling them a million times it seemed! Jim was a great help and the o-rings were PERFECT! I was going to hire them to do all the work on the truck, but later due to time constraints on both sides, and money wise on my end, I decided to do it myself. Besides the tap breaking, I must say, its not that tough a job to do yourself (replacing a headgasket, and installing studs) If you got the tools, some free time and a good friend to give you a hand, and of course the tools, its a pretty cool learning experiance! Thanks again TripD, for your help and products!
Need to give a shout out to DLaushe here as well! Deon was a ton of help and a life saver! I dont have a garage my truck fits in and Deon let me use his. Due to the damn tap breakage, I ended up occupying said garage for a month!
Anyway, Deon was a ton of help and I am looking forward to helping do the same on his truck when he blows that head gasket... ya know your going to Deon! :-laf
Now she is all back together, o-ringed head, 12 MM ARP studs, Cummins Headgasket, and a set of Jammer 4 125HP injectors. Just finished the 500 mile retorque of the studs, and re-adjusted the valve lash as well. Finally, I got to find out what a set of injectors feels like (put them in during the rebuild)
Talk about fun!
Last thanks goes to the TDR, without this site and the help from ya'll, I never could have done this myself... then again, without you I probably wouldnt have been pushing the envelope and blown the headgasket in the first place!! :-laf
