Puncture Vine?

Got so mad wanted to hit a fella.

I got a 66' nova with a healthy 327 and a saginaw 4 speed. I'm having problems with the clutch. It is a Hayes street and strip unit that I just put in last winter. Right away it seemed very stiff but I just thought that was part of the break in. I had the clutch adjusting rod backed off all the way to the point that there was no free play in the linkage at all, just to get the clutch to disengage. I had to have the clutch pedal all the way to the floor to keep the clucth from grabbing while sitting still. It just seems like there is not enough linkage travel for the clutch. I thought maybe I had the wrong size throwout bearing, but that was ok. I don't know if I should just rip the thing out and get something diferent or what. Any help.

I had a high performance clutch once in my 57. It was the same as you describe. I found that the clutch arm was the weak link. If you are still useing the stock arm, check it out. Mine wasn't broken, but was giving enough to not let the clutch disengage. In those days I didn't have allot of money and just welded some angle iron on the inside of the arm. That stiffened it up enough to work. However I found that my left leg was growing at a tremendous rate, and was sore as he11 after a night of cruising... .

You Can't Go wrong with Centerforce IMO. After a bigger turbo my old Chrysler Conquest would slip the clutch in high gear(It was a new one also) I installed a Centerforce Dual Friction and it took many many stomp shifts and burnouts lol. The car was brutaly murdered by a TDR member(you know who you are lol) about 4K later. Pulled the clutch out and it was in GREAT condition. Good product... But then again I know people that have had great luck with hays. Good luck
