Brand spankin' new poster here. The first of what I hope to be many! I just had to lay out a bug huge thank you to all of you for sharing the great info that has helped me at least get my '95 2500 4x4 running again. Still a long way from pounding the ground like she oughta but she is running again nonetheless. What I have learned in such a short time has given me the courage to make the attempt to tinker rather than fork over Mucho Dinero.



Due to an injury and subsequent surgery , I had to let my Ram sit for a lot longer than I really wanted. It's kinda hard to shift a 5 speed when you can't use you right arm and shoulder. Now that the healing has progressed about as far as can be expected, at least I can shift gears again, but the Doc says I'll never be able to play relief pitcher for the Braves again. Oh, scuse me, I never did play for them in the first place.



My main regret is that I didn't find this forum sooner. I probably could have saved quite a few bucks that would have been better spent on other various goodies rather than molding away in the pocket of some greedy 0. 5 Star Dodge Dealership owner. Hmm!! Just pondering the possibilities of what would have been on my shopping list gives me the shudders.



In any case, thanks to one and all. You guys have a great thing going here and I am ecstatic to be allowed to be part of it.

For Dodge/Diesels the TDR is the best ( there are a few others that come close).



So do you have 12 kids(children) or 12 wolves quarding your truck. I would imangine wolves would be cheaper to feed.

As you said I believe I have already received much more benefit than it cost to sub. I suspect it will only get better as I read and learn.



Thank you Mule. All my kids are four legged and of the Lupine variety, actually half, lupine half canine to be more accurate. The jury is still out whether or not they are cheaper than the two legged type kids. Have you priced dogfood lately, especially the high quality type these guys require? At least they don't sass me too much, and they don't ask to take the Ram out on a hot date and then wreck it!





I used to have a sub to the TDR mag several years ago, but I pulled a stupid and let it lapse. BIG MISTAKE! About 6 months ago I found the TDR website and have been perusing it for a while and finally decided to re-up. When my shoulder got healed enough to allow me to even drive my Ram (see 5 speed), I was hit with a few of the problems that have been reported here, fuel pump, fuel return lines so on and so forth and still well under the alleged Cummins warranty except the fuel lift pumps weren't covered or so the dealer said. GRRR! ('') I still think I got ripped for the pump, judging from symptoms I am still experiencing. (suspect overflow check valve as real culprit) I still think I need to stretch that spring a tad more. It was about 1/4" when I opened her up. At the time, I still couldn't physically do the work myself, so I took a bath at the dealer. OUCH! Now that I can use my arm to some degree, I do not intend to let that happen ever again. At least the beast runs fairly smooth after warm up, but still hard to start with quite a bit of grayish white smoke until the engine comes up to normal idle. Until I get the hardstarting squared away, I still don't won't to move it very much. I'm too chicken about doing some serious damage.



I've got the pre-screen filter kit and quad ring on order. Hopefully that will help as I've read it has helped others and it couldn't hurt. Unless Dodge cleaned it sometime in the past, mine hasn't ever been cleaned. After I change that, I may go ahead and drop the tank to make sure there is no excess water and algae buildup from sitting so long. I had used a commercial diesel stabilizer in the last batch of fuel I put in hopefully to prevent just that. I found out later the stabilizer lacked an algaecide. Just my luck.



In anycase, you folks have taught me more in the last few months than I ever thought I could learn about diesel engines. That by just reading through most of the discussion forums. If I can ever share my satellite knowledge with you by all means ask away. I'm a much better DISHHEAD than a GEARHEAD.
