Stupid things are expensive! Does anyone have any hints on a cheaper place to get a filter for the Aisin transmission? Its looking like around $165 is the best I've found so far.

The only source I've used is Geno's Garage. Their prices are always fair and lower than most. I trust Genos and haven't wasted the time to even comparison shop. I definitely don't want another brand of filter made in China.

Harvey,
I forgot about Genos! I see they list the filter and gaskets for a 4500/5500 with the Aisin. Can I assume our 3500s use the same transmission?

Genos filter price is about $30 less than I've found elsewhere and the gasket about $10 less.

I've never checked part numbers or verified the similarity in any way but am confident the 3500/4500/5500 all use the same Aisin.

To be sure you can compare p/ns on the filters when you change it.

I was able to use the Dodge Body Builders Guide to confirm that the 08 4500 used the AS68RC transmission.

Thanks for your assistance Harvey!

Good. I was satisfied the three chassis cabs used the same Aisin but its always good to have proof from a factory publication.

The trucks are built in Mexico and the parts are sourced all over the world. So what?

If the truck and all the parts were built by union labor I wouldn't be able to buy one. Quality control would be terrible so I would't want to buy one. I'ver never been fond of beer cans rolling around in doors.

Hey guys it's not so much the UNION workers that screw the world up it's the UNION bosses (Management) that make their money even when the workers are out of a job. UNION's did some good for people back in the day then like every thing else got greedy. Just like companies that follow cheap labor so they can make bigger profits to pad the Corp. Exc. 's bonuses. I'd bet that almost every company could and would survive better if you got rid of all of the top OVER PAID management. Wow, sorry about the rant.....

If you are interested, you can go to e-bay, type in Dodge 4500 transmission filter in the search and find a less expense filter. I have one and the pan gasket at a much lower price than Dodge. The filter material looks and feels like what is in the Dodge filter. They look the same. Any of you that are still under warranty might not want to do this. I'll be changing mine this weekend if the oil I ordered gets here. I can't find the Mobil 3309 locally so I've ordered it over the internet. Bought a case for $94. 53 including the shipping.
