i am going to be installing a 4gsk and 191 dv's i already have 370's and an hx 40. right now the smoke cleans up pretty good but will i need more boost after these mods to keep my burn equally efficient? if so how much is safe since i haven't o-ringed the head

just wondering thanks for any info you can provide

Hey, I think I saw you the other day on Monta Vista in turlock... Was it you? My truck with 370's, number 10 full forward, PDR 40, 4GSk will haze perty good all the way through 4,000 rpms. I can get to my 40 pound wastegate pretty fast but I think if I block it, it would probably get rid of most the upper rpm smoke. I am waiting till I have some more money in the bank account to do it however, just so I am ready when the headgasket goes... . then o-ring, studs, and some lazer cut dv's, you know how it goes. I think anything past 40 or 45 and you should be perpared for a headgasket repair.

yah past 40-45 head gasket doesn't care for it too much if you wan't it too last under that kind of pressure retorque cylinder head every now and then it's not a fix but it will help

Are you running a stock 40 or? I have one of Piers' he prefers (I think) that you don't exceed 38psi. When we pulled my head a couple months back the headgasket looked to be holding great at 42-44 psi for close to a year. Not saying yours will, I knew the head was coming off so I took the chance. I would think over 40 and your running on borrowed time. There are some doing some testing at higher boost with stock gasket BUT adding studs so that may be a option to look into. good luck jeff
