I have used grease on the linkages to keep it quiet. This works for a short time though. The best from what I have heard is to use rubber washers in place of the steel ones. It is very hard to install though from what I heard. I have yet to try this as I am waiting till the snow is gone before crawling back under and having it fall in my face.
