NP205 rattle

anyone know a good fix for the shift lever rattle on that t-case?

Try replacing the shifter knob. I replaced it and haven't heard a single rattle since. I heard that when they get hot, the knob forms little cracks which causes noises. Hope this helps.

My rattle is caused by the linkage. I bought the bent washers to fix this but when I went to put them on I noticed they we already there. I just used a pry bar to bend them again. The problem is any time I move the lever, the washers rotate so it rattles again. My new solution is to use my wife's blanket to put a slight pressure on the lever and the problem is solved. Sometimes the blanket needs to be adjusted. #ad

I have used grease on the linkages to keep it quiet. This works for a short time though. The best from what I have heard is to use rubber washers in place of the steel ones. It is very hard to install though from what I heard. I have yet to try this as I am waiting till the snow is gone before crawling back under and having it fall in my face.

I used two rubber bungies one toward the front of the linkage one toward the back. Pulled them pretty snug wrapped around skid plate. Works pretty well.

One bungie in the cab from the shifter to under the seat works for me, it takes a very slight amount of pull to do the trick!

To fix my transfer case rattle,I simply removed the 3 bolts that hold the lever asm on. Cut a piece of rubber, (like an old inner tube) the shape of the bracket and cut the three holes in it. Install it behind the Transfer case mounting bracket. It worked for me. MPb
