I'm rebuilding my transfer case and I'm wondering how to remove the needle bearing (front output shaft) from the rear half of the case.
Thoughts?
Usually yes on this, but I would not on that paper thin aluminium case. there is a fair chance to push out the wall behind instead of the bearing. When you have bearing in a blind hole, you can fill the bearing full of grease then use a shaft that size and thump it with a hammer. I will create hydraulic pressure and force the bearing out.

An inside puller is the way to go.
Thanks for the replies all. I had a coworker suggest using wadded bread - I've seen that work with pilot bearings. I tried it using a large socket with an extension inserted backwards as a driver but it didn't seem to budge, so I'm going to try a puller next.Good call.
