I have a 241DHD transfer case which is popping into nuetral under engine braking. My guess before i tear into it is that the gears are off shape a bit and are sliding forward with enough force to override the detent on the shifter. i probably dont' have any pads left on the forks either but if the gears are this far off i expect to need to replace the gears.

i'm afraid to go out and buy a rebuild instead of doing it myself as i trust my work and could just be picking up a set of bad gears that did nto get replaced. I'm pulling 15K worth of boat and trailer with this rig as a bumper tug and would rather not have the gears out. it's gets "interesting" when the transfer case jumps mostly into neutral with that load on and the screaming starts from the gear teeth in there.

Where can i get a gears for this case? i can see that the rebuild kit is goign to run me around $540 if i go all out and replace everything that comes in the kits.

Internet searches are not doing me a lot of good finding the gear parts.

Would you take a chance on a junkyard case being a source of parts?

If someone has a known good case for a 2002 with a NV5600 in front of it they want to sell, i'm here interested in buying.

thanks all
