Demco the manufacture of the Glide-Ride that is used on the “newer” NuWa (Hitchhiker) products is now making a Glide-Ride to retrofit into the “older style.

This type hitch pin box is easily identified as being made of a 8x8 piece of square steel tube cut at a 45* angle and is non-telescoping. The mounting bolts are 10" apart on the horizontal plane and 3" apart on the vertical.

I received mine about a month ago the installation/bolt hole line up was picture perfect. After installation I pulled the 5th wheel around town for about 20 miles and the before/after differences were obvious. When I leave for AZ about the 1st of the year will be the real test.

The Demo site has a very good demonstration video as to how it works. They also make other models to fit other brands/styles of hitch pin box.

Disclamer- I have no interest, financial or otherwise in Demco.

I bought a new 2007 Hitchhiker 5er with a Demco "Glide-Ride" hitch as standard equipment in May of this year. It does provide a noticeably smoother and jerk free towing experience. Having pulled it a few thousand miles I would now select the Demco Glide-Ride as an extra cost option if it were not offered as standard equipment on Hitchhikers.

When I noticed that 2008 Hitchhikers now offer as standard equipment the new Dexter Easy Flex rubber bumper style equalizer between the front and rear leaf spring packs I did a little research. I learned that Young's Welding, the company who manufactures the frames for most HH products and is just down the street from HH's service department in Chanute, KS, would sell the Dexter Easy Flex kit for $168 and install it for 1 to 1. 5 hours of labor. I had the kit installed during a visit to the NuWa service department a couple months ago. The Dexter Easy Flex complements the Demco Glide-Ride hitch and makes towing even smoother. I recommend it.

As Richard wrote above, I also have no financial interest in Demco, Dexter, Young's Welding, or NuWa.

I've got the Demco on my 2006 HitchHiker. Big difference between it and the hitch on my 1998 HitchHiker. No more head jerking towing on those concrete interstates that bump on every expansion joint.

Richard, I'll be towing mine to AZ in a couple of days. I've got a little longer drive than you do. Been keeping an eye on the weather channel. Roads are great here in MN but just south of us they are still a mess. Hope to hit the road on the 18th.
