my buddys 99 3500 5spd keeps getting stuck in 5th gear, and now hes stuck in my drive way in 5th does anyone know what the deal is here the 5th gear nut has been updated... . what causes this i did a search and i know ive read about nv 4500s getting stuck before... thanks for the help guys
 
im not too sure what shift fork pads are. but if we pull the stick off the top of the trans we can pry it back into nuetral with some jimmying of the clutch pedal. are fork pads something we can change our selves or should the trans be dropped and gone through. the truck shifts fine through out but once in a while it wont shift out of fifth. am i missing smthing? im not very knowledgable about transmissions, just the basics. any help is appreciated.
 
The pads are on the shift forks which are in the transmission.



Put the T Case in netural and you can at least roll it out of the driveway.
