Im changeing my truck from a 2wd getrag to a 4wd nv4500 and already have a NP205 with a 23 spline input shaft, dose any one make an adapter for that?

Or am i better off spending the money to change the transfer case over to a 29 spline input shaft to match the NV4500 out put shaft?

I would try to change to a bigger spline on the output. What bolt pattern is on the nv4500 adapter you have now? I have done a few with a gm mainshaft to a gm round pattern 205, that gets you 32 splined inputs and output. Hope this helps

When you say out put are you talking about the trans output? cause right now mine is a 29 spline. The transfercase has the standard round dodge mount from a 4 speed auto trans.

The 205 will bolt on to the 4500 no prob. The issue you will have is spline.

The 205 will require the 5 speed input shaft. You can change the shaft or get/make a coupler. When i did the Getrag from the 727 I got a complete new case as it was cheaper than any parts to convert it and I did not trust a welded coupler.

If you dont mined me asking how much did you pay for the case cause i found the parts to change the shaft for 450.

$500 if memory serves and it was in good condition with 150K on it. But shipping parts to Canada, importing them, etc would cost more. Plus now I have a spare case, gears, etc.

the output shaft on the trans. We have used the chevy parts to mate them together, 32 spline nv4500 main shaft and the auto or 4speed stick case used 32 spline female.

Thats not a bad price for a good case but i did more looking and found the parts for 260. Thanks for the input but im gonna keep it a dodge parts since thats the trans setup i have.

This won't have anything to do with spline-counts or bolt-ups, since I eBayed a pre-mated transmission/t-case and it arrived on a pallet. We've got a 4500/205 under "Da Beast", my son's 1990 RamCharger. It's a wide setup, and doesn't leave a whole lot of room between the framerail and the Tcase for big exhaust tubing. We just went 3" and called it a day. Just something to keep in mind..... Unless you figure a nice way to get the exhaust outboard of the framerail, while not putting the exhaust in danger of droop-related trail-carnage.

Thanks for the heads up on that one guys, Is the T-case pipe kind of oval shaped or some thing to make it special?

I think he was referring to the section of exhaust pipe that passes next to the transfer case- is it flattened or oval in cross-section for clearance purposes?
