Found this yesterday during an oil change,It never got to the point of a drip. I think it is seeping from where the shifter is mounted to the transmission, any idea's?. What else is on top of the 56 honey where this may be coming from?.

Thank in advance

I had this on my 03. The four bolts on the very top that mount the shifter to the trans vibrated loose. Take the drink holder out and lift the shift boot up and tighten them down. I would put a mild loctite on them to keep them from doing this again.

I had the same issue with my NV5600, a leaky shift tower that developed into a small drip. The dealer fixed it for me. I am not sure if there was anything else involved (gasket, etc. ) other than tightening the bolts.

Same thing happened with my BD shortshift once installed, they leak,(twice now),got fed up and finally took the shifter apart myself and used some gasket sealer,no more leaks now.

Mine was similar but not as bad. When I changed my clutch I made sure to clean my shifter well and applied a high quality silicone when reinstalling it. No more leaks yet.

Alright I think you guys are right, it's definitely coming from the shift tower. I haven't lifted up the cup holder yet to see which seating surface it is coming from.

Apparently the only sealant needed is where the Isolator plate comes in contact with the gear case, the shop manual says there is no sealant needed for the Shift Tower itself.

I don't know wether I want to waste a day at the dealer (warranty) or handle this one myself. I figure by the time I write it up and she sits a half day until they get to it I might just make sure the bolts are tight myself, that and like a wingnut I already cleaned it up so it looks like there was never a leak .

Thanks again

Hmmm. would loose shifter tower bolts cause a buzz to come from the shifter? Mine doesn't leak/ seep though.

Alright who said Oil Workers with tools are dangerous .

Got out the shop manual and removed the cup holder, shift extension, upper and lower boots, shift tower, and isolator plate.

Whewwwwwwwwww

Real sealed them with some industrial strength silicone and "good to go", I hope :confused:time will tell.

All kidding a side it went pretty smooth.
