Actually a little less that 4 quarts. I removed the drivers side cover plate and cleaned the magnet, put some RTV sealant on, then proceeded to fill and to my surprise after a little less than 4 quarts of Mopar (pure gold $16. /qt. ) fluid it was was running out the filler plug. Dealer said it holds 4. 75 qts.

Did you lift the rear of the truck? The transmission rear is lower than the front. Need all of the oil to run forward and out the PTO cover.

Nope I didn't. That must be it. Just did it on the level garage floor. Oh well, that's going to have to do I guess. Thanks for the tip, I'll jack it up a bit in the rear next time.

Other than artifically tipping/tilting the truck, I can't get a full 4 quarts in mine either - and personally, I prefer to fill to the fill plug level and no further, don't want to chance seepage past the input/output oil seals, and chance oil contamination of my clutch facing - besides, what are you likely to REALLY gain from another cupfull or less of oil - is it really worth the potential leakage problem... ;)

The same goes for differentials and axle seals...
