Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) NV4500 2wd to 4wd

Just picked up a 97 2500 parts truck with a 5 speed in it, would really like to swap it into my 02, I know the output housing is going to be changed, but what about the output shaft? would the upgraded full splined mainshaft for a 4x4 application solve the problem? Also, my 02 has a DLD transfer case, do i need to find a DHD or will the splines fit the input? J ust looking for an idea of what im gettin into... Thanks
