Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) NV4500 5th gear upgrade

Just wondering which 5th gear mainshaft kit to go with? Blumenthals or Standard Gear. Which one is the best?

Joe, that's gonna be a hard one. I suspect most folks have used either one or the other, so they don't have a basic to compare the two.



I have a Standard Trans. unit, it seems to be fine, but I only have 7k or so on it, not enough miles or time to say how it'll do over the long haul.



My advise is compare the two price wise, then the warrenty and shipping from your location and go from there.

Have Dan at Quad4x4 hook you up. I've dealt with him a half dozen times. Great help and excellent kits. He will fix yours or sell you everything you need to fix your own.

I vote for Dan, look at his new "Torque King" mainshaft/gear set-up, that's what I'm going with, looks bulletproof!!!

I have had excellent results with Std. Trans. stuff, and know of many others who have also. Their customer service is also excellent, and an important factor.
