Looking to have someone restore my 92 W250

I am looking for an NV4500 conversion kit for my 91. There are many suppliers out there. Standard, Blumenthal, High Impact, does anyone have any input on who to go with or who to avoid. Thanks,

I got mine from Quad 4X4 in Roberts MT and it was an excellant kit. That being said as far as I know they were the first to put the kit together - but they no longer make the NV4500HD kit. I've heard mostly good about Standard and Blumenthal - don't know about High Impact - good or bad. Quad 4X4 does make what appears to be an excellant 5th gear re-design but only for 4X4s.

I know from personal experience that Standard if a very professional operation with high standards of cleanliness, attention to detail, service, and integrity. I haven't had personal experience with Blumenthal but would assume the same high standards for them.

Don't know anything about the other company you mentioned.

I can vouch for Blumenthal. I know they make in-house or contract locally most of their parts for the NVs. I believe they supply most of the parts available, such as those that Standard or Wade's gets. I've used Bluementhal's over 10 years, and they have always impressed me with their quality, knowledge, and ability to find or build what I need, regardless of the GVW of the vehicle, or it's purpose. I've exchanged Eaton 15 speeds, Getrag 5 speeds, NVs, E4ODs, and many long blocks, and never had but one complaint when a bolt hole was stripped in the output shaft where the yoke bolted on. They DELIVERED me another reman the next day before 12 noon(2. 5 hours away), and the guy helped my pull the first one out of the Pete I was working on before loading it up and leaving with it..... That's world class, right there!!

I fully intend to purchase one of their conversion kits for my '93, as it's original transmission is having difficulties. Let us know what you decide, and how it goes, please!!

Got my 4500 trans and kit from Blumenthals also, best thing you can do to a first gen IMO. Also , the '03 has one of their 5600's in it as well.

Thanks guys, the prices are similar so will give one place a call and get one on the wayl I have my frame all blasted and painted and my clutch assemble arrived yesterday so I would like to get the transmission in before putting the new body on. Lots easier to work from above. I just dangle the transmission from a chain and lower it in. One man, older man, no struggle. Cant wait till I get rolling. I got a gas two wheel drive truck a year or so ago from California for a parts rig. After loosening the fasteners, I can spin them with my fingers. I can't believe the corrosion we have to deal with on the east coast. My old 91 will be like new by the time the snow is gone.

Be sure to post pics !!;)

I can't believe I almost forgot to record all this. Glad you reminded me. I will take some today and keep a log of the progress. I may need some help getting the pics on line but I'm pretty sure I will be able to figure it out.

I called about four vendors last week and by chance got Mr Blumenthal on the phone personally. He was very helpful and knowlegable and I ended up negotiating a brand new NV4500 that he is building from parts that they bought from Mopar years ago. He's in his late 70's and a real character. I traded the G360 for a core so I won't have that for parts for the 93 but hopefully I won't need it. Anyway, if you're thinking of the swap they were very competitive.
