Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) NV4500 extension housing

Anyone had the aluminum extension housing on the 4500 break or crack? I'm going to change my clutch and fix the 5th gear nut while I have the trans. out,but was wondering about that aluminum housing holding up the transfer case. I have the cast iron 205 transfer case in my 92 with a NV4500.

There have been problems with the aluminum housing when guys hang aux. transmissions like the Gear Vendor's off the end of the transfer case. If you have a iron transfer case, I would replace it. Quad 4X4 has the cast iron housings fairly reasonable.
