Got the Fuller kit from Geno's. My understanding is that it should go on the pasenger side. There are two gaskets in the kit (one cork and the other more rigid). Which gasket goes between the kit and the transmission? What torque setting can the cork gasket withstand? What's the best sealer to use on the gaskets? Many thanks to the forum re fuel pressure gage install topic.

I wouldn't use the gaskets. Everyone I know that has installed the filter kit with them has had a leak. Just get yourself some good RTV silicone. That is what the New Venture uses. Make sure all the surfaces are clean and dry, you wont have a leak and don't have to worry about crushing that junk cork gasket

The Magnet

Just in case you might be wondering why the filter should be installed on the passenger side, the driver's side access cover has a wafer shaped magnet bonded to it.

Here is a view of my magnet when I changed the transmission oil last year. I don't know what is used to bond it to the cover.

Where to place extra magnets? Place them in the bottom of the transmission. New Venture Gear thought it would be better to have them in the bottom of the transmission instead. They placed them in the bottom of the NV 5600s. When a truck is parked particles will settle to the bottom of the transmission, that is where I think extra magnets should be. Nothing is used to bond them to the covers, or to the bottom of the trans, they are magnets. They stick.

Fast Coolers

Steve, I'm not sure. With a long filter in the fast coolers you would loose some valuable lube capacity with i'ts displacement. I feel more flat magnets on the bottom would be better. Has anyone used the fast coolers with the filter kit ?
