Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) NV4500 Going bad

The 4th gear Synchro on my NV4500 is going bad. Thinking of switching to the 6 speed transmission. Will it use the same bell housing as the NV4500? Do I have to shorten drive shafts if I switch?

If you are planning on using the NV5600, it is trans and bell housing in one unit and I do not think the G56 will bolt up to your housing, maybe someone else can lrend some info here. I went through this same issue a couple years ago and was able to find a NV4500 new in the MOPAR box so I did that and sold the core for $500 to a young fellow and he rebuilt it and put it in a hot rod ford pickup and he came and picked the transmission up at my house. Look on ebay!

Don't keep running it to long with the bad 4th synchro they do not like to be ran that way and it will eventfully explode I've tried it before and it wasn't good right now you can put new synchros in for about 150 from quad 4x4 if you keep running it'll be a lot more
