Ok I was wanting to get some opinions. I was driving to CO with about a 12 k trailer from indiana. I made it to the CO border and notice it went hard into fith gear after getting back on interstate. Got off the interstate in a couple hundred miles and when I let off the gas it makes a clicking sound like a baseball card in the spokes of a bike. The higher the rpm s the loude the sound. Checked all gears and they all work fine unless I don't give it gas except fourth and it has not one issue. I drove it 400 more miles to my destination without letting off the gas unless clutch is in or using he engine brake in every gear but forth. I went down wolf creek pass in 4th gear low range so I didn't loose my brakes ridding them in forth high. I have gear box fluid leaking underneath the truck. Any ideas on what might of happened. I left my truck as planned at my new home but need to fix it when I get back out there with my motor home and other belongings on the next trip.

Thanks

Glad you made it to your destination. When mine started a slight clicking in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th I went about 100 miles before it was obvious the trans was about to implode. I was forced on a couple occasions to use 1,2 & 3 and the noise was BAD!! I too was pulling a trailer, so I took it to the destination using 4th gear as much as possible, then called Standard Trans. The transmission was only about 7000 miles old. By the time I made it to a place to get it swapped, there were large pieces of gears and unrecognizable metal in the bottom of the case. I think that one or both of the bearings for the countershaft were not installed properly, allowing one or more main shaft componants to strike one or more countershaft componants. Anyway, I wouldn't drive it another foot without getting the transmission rebuilt.

Ok thanks for the reply. I am back out with the rest of my stuff from the move and looking for a little more help. The truck drives fine and you would not know anything was wrong if you did not let off the gas or stayed in fourth.

It does have a little fluid leak out of the bell housing area. I am thinking shifter fork or pilot bearing? It drives to good and shifts to good to be internal I think. Any opinions out there? It will most likely go to the shop end of the week if I can't find someone else with the same issue to know what it is and how to fix it.
