My NV4500 takes some time downshifting into third or shifting into gear while stopped. Sometimes it takes a second tap before the syncros cooperate. It is a little notchy going into the other gears as well. I've driven it for a year like this never really knowing if that is how a NV4500 is suppose to act or if I got swindled on the transmission I bought.

Could these be sympotoms of a clutch that is not fully disengaging?

When I did the conversion, I used a '95 bellhousing and clutch fork and retained my '92 clutch and slave cylinder. When I put it all together, it seemed to fit and work, but now I have some doubt.

when you did your conversion did you use a kit ?

from what i have gathered if you used a kit you

can retain your stock hydraluics if you did not

and used a stock nv4500 bell houseing you need

to up grade the slave and master cylinder.

it is also my understanding the runout of the

engine to transmission adapter can cause a load

in the input shaft causing clutch and transmission problems

i think the max it can be is . 008 out (this is the adapter centering

around the crank shaft)

I did not use an aftermarket bellhousing kit. The Getrag and NV4500 slave cylinders have a different part numbers, but they look identical from the outside, so I saved some money by using my old slave cylinder.

Do you suppose the slave cylinders have a different internal bore diameter? I'd like to know the bore diameters for both slave and mastercylinders.
