Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) NV4500 hydraulics, bell and flywheel differences 94-02?

I'm possibly doing a nv4500 conversion to my 92 w/ a getrag... I know there are differences through the years in NV stuff, I'm just wondering what fits with what, shifter styles, etc. Also, can I use a starter or flywheel housing from an auto truck? Any help is much appreciated, thanks-Nick

my '92 had an advanced adapters bellhousing on it when i got the truck



it cracked, so i had to replace it



they aint cheap...



no, you cant use the bellhousing from an auto, maybe the starter tho?

From an auto meaning a 94+ auto flywheel housing. I thought those were the same auto and manual. My other 92 has an NV4500 in it, I always thought it was an AA setup, looking closer its all 94+ stuff. Apparently quad 4x4 used to make an adapter bellhousing also, but its now discontinued. They told me the starter would hit the frame if I used 94+ Dodge stuff, its nowhere close. You'd think with all of these places offering conversions there'd be more NV4500 trucks out there. I don't see a whole lot of them.

All the NV 4500 bellhousing are the same from 94 to 2000. They only bellhousing difference is when you go to the NV5600(6 spds) and they can only be used with a 6spd. The hydraulics you will want to use are the ones from the 97 5spd trucks as it had the biggest slave cylinder and workes the best with aftermarket clutch units. If you do not go that route use South Bend Clutches hydraulics as Peter and the gang have a great product. No automatic bellhousings can be used with a stick truck..... Andy

The hydraulics you will want to use are the ones from the 97 5spd trucks as it had the biggest slave cylinder and workes the best with aftermarket clutch units.
