well thanks again TDR members. i picked up my new nv4500 and associated goodies from Quad 4X4 friday. finished installing it sunday. :D not only is the shifting great, i dont have the vibration from the transfer case shift lever. btw, does anyone need an old getrag? thanks again for the information.

Dan at Quad 4x4 says it takes anywhere from 15-20 hrs. i had previously removed the old getrag/transfer-case so that i could take him my flywheel. all in all it took all day Saturday and finished up Sunday around 2:30pm or so. there are no frame mods. . there is a little work to do on the transmission support plate

and some mods to the transfer case shifter bracket. the worst part for me was cutting the carpet. . i felt if you screwed up on that, then everyone would see it. you need a welder and a grinder and probably a torch or chop saw. the kit i got was very complete and to the point. you could probably shave some time of the install if you have a nice warm place to do it. i was stuck out side with snow on the ground and highs in the mid 30's. also i did everything by myself wishing i had someone to help.

good luck

i should mention that i didnt just do the swap on a whim. my rear main seal was bad and i figured while it was out do the deed. my getrag's 3rd gear syncro's are gone and i had located a recently rebuilt one to replace it. long story short. i lost everything but 4th in that one. so i got my money (and transmission) back and went with the nv4500. with that said my old getrag is sitting in the barn.
