NV4500 OIL SURVEY RESULTS

Red Line MT-90 for 80,000 miles(changed twice), no oil related problems.

Amsoil 80W-90 GL4 for the last 10000 miles. No problems.

80K on factory oil (and no 5th gear problems). Been meaning to get to it for 6 months now. Will install the CA$trol stuff the dealer sells.

Started low vibration under load in 4th gear, low rpm while under load around 60,000 miles. Others have reported the same noise.

Joe, I think you are the more qualified than I to judge TowPro's description of his transmission vibration problem.

Should it be classified as a oil related problem?

Factory castrol syntec for the first 65000mi. The trans was always hard to shift into 2nd or reverse from a stand still. I switched to amsoil series 2000 75w-85 the last change. the trans shifts like it should have from the factory. It shifts great I also installed a fuller filter, we will have to wait and see about that.

No problems

Amsoil Series 2000 75w-90 to present (67,000)
No problems (added Geno's trans filter @ 40,000)
 
Emptied the factory fill at 30,000 miles and guess what, nationwide backorder on the castrol syntorque. In went Lubro-Moly Manual transmission fluid and 50,000 miles later, only a leaky input shaft seal happened and it was ripped, not swollen from oil--so it was not oil related.
