Has anyone bought NV4500 oil from Midwest Transmission Center in MN.They sell it on Ebay and Its advertised as the correct oil for GM and Dodge. I bought a gallon and it arrived in a gallon container with no label or markings on it as to who makes it or what oil it was. I called them and they said its the correct oil. They get it in bulk and fill the containers for resale. Before I go putting it in has anybody had any experience with this oil from them?

No guarantee but that oil is available in 55 gallon drums.. I got mine from Standard Transmission in Texas and it was repackaged also. My NV4500 has a half million miles so it was probably the right stuff

Check the GM number part #thats on the tag on the trans, see if its the same#. You are looking for a GL4 NOT the GL5 spec, lub.

Yes its the same number thats on the tag. I am going to give it a try. What should I look out for when driving with this oil ( hard ****ing , gear clash)?

The wrong oil will make the shifter feel notchy or in other words the gear shift won't move easily into each gear . Lots of posts on here about oil types and peoples experiences with different oils ..

I have used AMZOIL Severe Gear Syn 75-90 ( API GL 5) and after talking with the tech folks at Amzoil, They tell me that this is not the correct oil to replace Syntorq. So with my new NV4500 just installed in my 99 2500 4wd and 3000 miles now on it with this Severe Gear I am going to change it to their Manual Trans Transaxle 75-90 API GL4 which if I could have read the specs, I could have saved myself about $100, so here goes. This oil, if you read Amzoil Specs, is direct replacement for GM 12346190 or Chrys 4874459 I had my NV4500 fail because of oil failure at 210000 with 110000 with Severe Gear..I know "Bad On Me" . So here goes!

I put in the oil and drove the truck for about 60 miles, it seems to be shifting better then before. Will put a bunch of miles on it next month so that will be the test. Thanks everyone for your advice and comments. Charlie.

I had stock Syntorq in my 99 until I changed it at 96,000 and went with Amsoil Severe Gear 75-90 which went to 210,000 and I still feel that that oil failed and Amsoil Tech Support told me that was very likely as Severe Gear is API GL-5 and is not the direct replacement as Syntorq is GL-4 Like I said before, Bad on ME for not reading the fine print and also not reading enough on TDR!!
