I thought I had read an article stating to overfilll the NV4500 to make it live longer. I've got the Amsoil 75w-90 Fluid and know the capacity is 4 qts.

So if I decide to overfill from the top of transmission. Do I put 5 qts or 6 qts in? And will this help the life of the transmission?

I've read a number of claims about overfilling, some say good, some say bad. My personal experience with over filling is that it tends to increase the transmission temperature due to the way it whips the oil around in there compared to when it is filled to the normal level. That was a problem with the big trannies in the semis, not sure about these 4500s though. Just food for thought.

Anyone running the NV 4500 overfull for an extended time? I don't have a trans temp gauge but do have an extra quart sitting around should I throw it in or leave it on the shelf?
