I installed a BD short shift on my 5spd 3 weeks ago and really like it.

It did take a couple of miles to get used to it but it is much nicer than stock.

I have one on my six-speed and like it overall. Can't get the darn thing to seal, though. Had it apart three times resealing, and it just refuses to.

It does work well - the shortened throws are really nice. It also moves the end of the shifter closer to the driver, so no reaching to hit any gears.

For those of you who've had one for a while, what did you find it did for the "stiffness" of shifting. These transmissions are not know for fast shifting - shifts are done sort of in 2 steps - clunk-clunk - more so with the 5 speeds. Have you found this is proportionately worse and requires more effort with the short shift kit?

TIA,

I do find mine doing that also.

Michael,

When you say yours is doing that also, do you mean the clunk-clunk, or the that the shifting is stiffer? I suspect with the short shift kit it will still be a 2-step process, just shorter throw. But what I'm wondering is, if shifting is already a bit stiff, does the kit make it noticeably stiffer (i. e. requires more effort)?

Thanks,

-Jay

Not more effort but it does "clunk-clunk"
