Hi,

I have a 1989 2wd with a G360 that took a dump and have a 95 2wd NV4500 I want to install, I have the advance adaptors kit on order but they did not know how to handle the speedo cable to the newer 95 trans as it has a electric connector

Does someone make a kit or a mechanical output for a NV4500?

Thanks,

I would check with a good speedometer shop. I had and adapter made for mine to correct the speed being off by about 10 - 15 mph. I'm not sure about the "95s drive but if they have a plastic drive gear you just might be able to hook your speedo cable and see if that works. I believe the VSS can be taken off with a little luck your speedo cable just might fit on to the trans adapter.

Chrysler used these gears for years and you can buy them - there must be 50+ of them so I would think you could get the speedo very close. Also if I remember correctly you can take the one off your G360 and take it appart you just might be able to make that work.

Good luck

Bob

Ill put in my 2 cents worth . On the sppedos the connector will on bolt then you can screw on tthe cabel , i did this on my burb conversion , you can get speedo adapters from any 4x4 shop or possibly online .
On the chrystler speedo gears i know on the cars they went by a color for diffrent gear ratios there was a green one a white and a red that i know of id try hooking upand trying it and see what it reads as the vss will on bolt

I'll have to look, but your existing one should work... They all work off the same speedo gears, the later G360s just had an electronic convertor on the end of the speedo gear.... you'll just have to make sure the gear contacts correctly....

I probably still have some gears for the NV4500; the shaft is shorter than the old 727s used but the plastic part with the gear is the same, iirc. I don't know if they are still available new. You should be able to put something together.

I know the gears are available, such as from Randy's Ring and Pinion... the housing is what I'm not sure of... I think it will go into the NV4500, then is there is a depth difference in the gear?

His all,

Ended up just swapping out holder and gear and looks good to go, will now maybe this weekend still had to get a few parts for the swap, now wonder if this will work when I go to install it in my 92 4x4 with a NP241 this spring?

Currently getting the 89 2wd running to trouble shoot the engine before I swap the engine

Thanks again all,
