i'm sure this has probably been asked a million times but here goes again, what is involved in swaping a nv4500 in place o getrag 360 in a 2wd truck? i see that the clutch setup is the same but does thet adapter plate and starter have to be changed? and is there any modifactions to the cross member?

No the adapter dont have to be changed if you buy the proper bell houseing from advance adapters this is what i did on my 92 , you need to cut or machine down the bearing retainer houseing some , or you can i think buy this from them done already

but for around $25. 00 you can have it done at a machine shop in less than 15 minutes

If you have an extended cab you will need to shorten the drive line. I also used a 2nd gen rear trans mount and you will need an adapter mountd to the VSS to get your speedo to read correctly.

The NV4500HD trans tail shaft - at least on 4X2s - is about 6. 5" longer than the one on the G360 and the output shaft is splined as opposed to the design on the G360.

Don't know what all you've looked at, but Blumental's sells a kit, with all you need except the driveline. The 4wd kit uses the stock shafts... ... but that doesn't help you much, here. You might call and just ask them a price, and what all else comes with it.

That makes sense. Was lost on what the cab length had to do with anything. 2x4 vs 4x4 makes sense.
