I was just wondering what it would take to swap from a 5 speed to a six speed. How hard would it be and how much stuff would you actually have to change? Driveshafts? Adapter for transfer case?

Bellhousing, driveshafts lengths (usually 5" off the rear and +5" in the front), and the transfer case should bolt right up to the 6 speed. You will also have to lengthen the transfer case linkage and reverse light wires. Almost forgot the transmission mount, they are exclusive to the 6 speed. ;)

I just got done doing mine. It was not too bad. I got a new bell housing with the 5600. That bolted right up. I got a 4x4 kit with mine, new linkage for transfer case shifter. The transmission came with a plate to attach to the back of the transmission and the the cross member. I had to cut the exhast hanger off since it was in the wrong place, I had the rear drive shaft shorten 6" and the front 6" longer for mine. The 6 speed is twice as heavy as the 5sp. it will need a good transmission jack. I bought a new 6 sp instead of rebuilt, there was not much price difference. Your are welcome to look at mine since your about 125 miles from me.
