Well got a couple of questions;

- first question is there any difference between the GM diesel and the dodge diesel NV4500s?

- 2nd would $1500 be a good deal for a new 4wd NV4500 HD?

www.enterpriseengine.com is just east of Columbus, Ohio. Ask for Doug.

They rebuild 4500's, and have new ones, and take outs. Excellent shop, with a proven track record, literally on the track!

$1500 is not bad for a new 4500, but it may be worth your money to rebuild the old one and get the updated parts, some of which are exclusive to Enterprise.

I will be going down there tomorrow, and prolly again next week.

I live close to I-79, I-80 interchnage in West Pa. I could get you one if that makes it closer for you, save the shipping costs.

I believe the Chevy input shafts are shorter, but not sure.

I find it hard to think a rebuilt or used replacement part would automically be a better choice then factory new.

Having went through this myself (prior to the fully splined mainshaft solution) I would purchase based on warrenty.

You get a 12 months 12K miles on a factory new. If any of the rebuilts get you 12months unlimited (depending how you use your truck) this would be a better deal.

I paid 1800K for a 2000 model year 4500HD that was put into my 96. The warrenty lasted 2. 5 months and I was again on my own.

With what is available now I would have NEVER replaced and just rebuilt.

Ok... I should have told the whole story...

I have a 1995 CTD 2WD drivetrain, that I am swaping into a 1968 M715 Kaiser/Jeep truck:D and I need a 4wd transmission, if it was just a rebuild I'd do that...

I just found out that transmission I located is a 2001 Dodge HD transmission bought from directly from NV, its a friend so no shiping or core charge, but no warrenty, but it is brand new so I'm probably going that way...

Standard Transmission was one of the places I looked at, they have the NV4500 for 1650 + 400 core, and you get the 5th gear update

Gene thanks for the offer, checked out their website looks like they know what thier doing!
