I'm considering buying a 2003 Ram 2500 with the NV5600 transmission. It has 95K miles on it... is it possible that the clutch is worn out? I assume that most of these miles are highway miles (less clutch usage). Noticed that the clutches for this transmission are expensive (from $890 to $1089).

Clutches are cheaper than that. Depends on what you want.

With that kind of mileage, just push it hard in the higher gears, and see if it slips.

It all depends on how it was drove before you. I know guys that will wear a clutch out every 50K but others can make a clutch last the life of the truck. If you replace a clutch, I highly recomend the south bend ofe but there are other choices also.

Hello,

I would think the clutch is fine. run the previous check and be content. I have 174k on my 01 with over half the miles transporting a three car trailer and cars <54k> and hauling travel trailers <63k>. all is running fine. it does come down to the driver.
